On 28 September 2006, Alison Croney and I boarded a plane in Los Angeles destined for Auckland, New Zealand. Over the next seven months we traveled through Australia, Japan, and India before returning to Boston on 26 April 2007. Our goal was to research sustainable design, community building, and human living. Along the way we participated in different work, culture, and language exchange programs with the intent of improving our understanding of the local people, our place in the world, and the relations between us.
